Designed as part of the Vest in Show collection for A Woolen Affair 2025, the Gathered Waters Vest was inspired by the deeply meaningful theme of the show, Down by the Riverside. 

These kits include both the yarn and pattern needed to make the vest. You will need to select the number of skeins needed for your size - see below for sizing and yardage information. You may select any sport or DK base and any colorway!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Sizing throughout the pattern is written as 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9).

The vest has a baseline positive ease of 0.5"-1.75" around the bust (not including any extra room the ties might add). The side ties make the circumference easily adjustable, so you will likely have more positive ease in the finished piece depending on how tightly the ties are tied. If in between sizes, size down if you prefer a closer fit because you can always loosen the ties to increase the circumference. Or, size up if you prefer a more oversized fit.

The pictured sample is a size 2 shown on a 34" bust. Without the ties, the vest would have 0.5" positive ease. In this sample, the ties are tied with about 1.5" of room on either side, resulting in an overall positive ease of 3.5" for the garment.

Care Instructions

For best care and to maximize color longevity, hand wash gently with wool wash or a delicate, pH neutral detergent in cool water sparingly.If you need some wool wash, try Eucalan Delicate Wash! Avoid excessive agitation when washing. Keep out of direct sunlight as much as possible and lay flat to dry. Although I thoroughly wash the skeins, some colors may bleed in the first couple of washes.

Tips for Use

Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn, no two skeins are exactly the same. I recommend alternating skeins if working with more than one skein of the same color to ensure color consistency.

For ease of use, I recommend winding the yarn into a center-pull cake. I will happily wind your skeins into cakes before shipping them if you would like! Just let me know you would like your skeins wound in the notes section upon checkout.
